How do you know if an offer or opportunity to make money online is a good one or if they are legitimate companies? Luckily for you, we have done the deep dive and rolled up our sleeves to do the dirty work of finding out. In this article we answer the question is National Focus Group Legit?
Scams have become an unfortunate part of daily life. We get tons of emails, junk mail, and phone calls on a daily basis, many of which are scams aimed at stealing an individual’s personal information or money.
In order to sign up for National Focus Group, you have to give them some personal information. It starts with your email address. I always use a “spam” or “burner” email address when I am signing up for offers like this so I can view them, delete them, or unsubscribe from them at my leisure without any worry about my personal email address being affected.
One you give them your email address, the remainder of the personal information depends on what kind of survey or study you are pursuing. A simple survey may only require your email. Something like a dental clinical trial will require a lot more information.
Questionnaire Type Surveys on National Focus Groups
I started out by opting into a simple national study on dairy products. I gave them my email address and had to fill out a screening questionnaire. Once I completed the screening survey I also had to upload a picture of my drivers license for verification purposes, and then I was selected for the Dairy Product Study.
The screening and study were done through L&E Research. The study took about 90 minutes to complete and paid $100 directly to my Paypal Account about 3 days later.
There were other topics available too however. There were online surveys about politics, television, customer service, recycling, travel, and many more.
There were also two other online surveys that were broken down by categories, one was medical panel, and the other was business to business panel. Those seemed to pay more, but I was content with my food and dairy online survey.
New Focus Group Studies
The next category to make money was a new research studies category which ranged in payout from $100 – $300 for one to two hours of your time. These paid focus groups were hosted by the Schlesinger Group (a well known research group that has been around for over 30 years).
This category required you to enter your phone number and mailing address, as well as uploading a picture of your photo ID. Once verified, there are a ton of focus group options at your disposal. Categories in this section ranged from pets, to baby equipment, to TV and movies, to shopping.
I applied for three different focus groups and was not immediately accepted for any of them. These opportunities may be a little more stringent in their selection criteria, but they seem like they pay well for only a small amount of your time.
Paid Clinical Trials on National Focus Groups
The final category was paid clinical trials. A familiar category of side gigs to our loyal readers, this section required much more information to input, however, the pay outs ranged from $300 to $1500 dollars.
After entering your email address and all of your personal information including address and telephone number, you also had to upload a copy of your ID. You answer a quick survey about your medical history and GetClinicalTrials.com finds a list of studies that you fit the criteria for.
There were several clinical trials available to me in my general area (within 35 to 45 miles) and that fit my diagnoses and medical history. The cheapest trial I found was paying out at a rate of $500 and the most lucrative was paying at the top of the range of $1500.
The categories ranged from narcolepsy to diabetes and osteoarthritis.
The clinical trials that paid the most were looking for subjects to undergo a medical procedure or take an experimental medication. I am already on some medications that help treat my issues, and I feel good about how they are working so I did not pursue any of the clinical trials.
If you are interested in pursuing any of the clinical trials (especially ones that involve a treatment or medication) make sure you consult your doctor before signing up. You will likely have to undergo a physical before starting the trial regardless, but it is always safest to consult your personal doctor as well.
Final Verdict
After signing up with National Focus Group, and taking part in one of their surveys directly and seeking other focus groups and clinical trials, it is safe to say that National Focus Group is LEGIT. There are a bunch of opportunities to get paid for your input and participation, and they pay out at a decent rate and fairly quickly.
Some of their online surveys and online focus groups required quite a bit of personal information to get registered, but if you are willing to part with that information, the reward could be well worth it.
Some of the clinical trials were a bit invasive as well, but again, they were paying 3 to 5 times what the regular surveys were paying out, and you were likely to get free medical treatment. You just have to weigh your comfort with the entire process.
One benefit that was a pleasant surprise with National Focus Group was that they continuously email you updates on surveys, paid focus groups, and clinical trials that you may be a good fit for. So even if you don’t get accepted on your first attempt, you may find another opportunity in the very near future.
