I started in the market research industry by answering surveys. I wanted to begin with the simplest online task I could find that doesn’t require prior skills but still pays.
I eventually got bored with answering questionnaires. It didn’t feel substantial enough to actually make a change一which was what I was trying to accomplish.
That’s when I stumbled upon GLG Insights and where I found what I need: an exclusive community that gets consulted via interviews.
However, I’ve noticed that some are wondering about their legitimacy. I’m here to answer that question through this GLG Insights review.
What Is GLG Insights?
GLG Insights is more than just your average survey company. Instead, they are a high-end market research firm that recruits subject matter experts from various industries.
Their community is exclusive, unlike other sites or companies where anyone with an opinion can simply sign up and join.
Hence, you can also expect their research opportunities to be more exciting.
Case in point: their clients usually talk to their participants directly, and they usually only get a single respondent per project.
Honestly, I consider signing up for GLG Insights a great professional decision. Through them, I am able to give advice and create actual change for the brands I care about.
GLG Insights Review: Are They Legit or Not?
Now that we are better acquainted with the company, the next part of this GLG Insights review is to determine whether they are a legitimate site or not.
There are a few points that I have used to validate their trustworthiness, namely:
Their Reviews
The first factor I look into to determine any market research firm’s legitimacy is its existing reviews.
For instance, I have discovered that GLG Insights are not listed on BBB. Instead, they use their full company name, which is the Gerson Lehrman Group.
They are currently not accredited by the Better Business Bureau, but they are rated. I also checked out the blog reviews my fellow members in the research community have posted about them.
Their Facilities
They have offices spread across the world. You will find the Gerson Lehrman Group in 21 locations across the world, including Tokyo, Sydney, and London.
Their main headquarters is based in New York, though.
Their Information
All of the information you’ll need to get to know the senior members of their company is posted on their website.
This sets a professional tone, especially compared to other companies that don’t even have a decent About Page.
The Experience
Finally, I don’t completely rely on other people’s words when it comes to determining a site’s reputation. Instead, I do my due diligence and try them myself.
In this case, I won’t have to do that anymore since I am already one of their listed subject matter experts.
How Does GLG Insights Work?
The first step toward understanding how GLG Insights work is to familiarize yourself with the company’s different divisions.
There are three major ones:
GLG Direct
They handle the interviews I mentioned in the introduction. They find professionals, business owners, specialists, and other forms of industry experts and connect them with clients.
The client has a chance to select the consultant (or consultant) they want to work with. However, GLG Insights has the sole discretion of who gets to participate in each research project.
GLG Research
They are in charge of collecting qualitative and quantitative insights from their network of experts. They do this by conducting focus groups, discussion panels, workshops, and more.
GLG Syndicated Insights
They are responsible for archiving reports, case studies, research transcriptions, projects, and events that GLG Insights conduct.
If there’s one thing that GLG Insights has taught me, that’s to write and keep track of my responses.
I used to think that I didn’t need to because the researchers would take care of that. However, I later discovered how much I could learn from my personal notes, especially from my clients’ questions.
If you think you have what it takes to become a network member of the Gerson Lehrman Group, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to join:
Step 1: Send Your Application
Go to the GLG Insights’ home page and click on the “Become an Expert” button on their header banner. This will lead you to their Network Members page.
When you’re there, click on the “Apply Now” button, which will take you to their onboarding platform.
There, you will be required to complete three steps. These are Register, Resume, and Rate.
Just follow the on-screen prompts and click on the “Next” button whenever you complete one.
However, before leaving their Network Members page, be sure to watch the short video they have posted. It also explains how the company works.
Step 2: Take GLG Insights’ Tutorial for New Network Members
Once accepted, you should be able to access GLG’s new member tutorial. It will take you up to speed with their platform and business procedures.
You will also be required to sign their network member agreement once you complete their tutorial.
Step 3: Update Your Profile
Since many of their interviews only need one to two experts, making your profile as detailed as possible is crucial.
Doing so will help GLG Insights match you with their clients better for future projects.
Step 4: Respond to Invitations
You should start receiving invitations to participate in research projects according to the current interest and demand for them.
Remember that this will vary according to the niche or industry you specialize in.
GLG Insights will provide you with the necessary access or links to your offline or online conference.
These are usually in the form of phone calls, online audio calls, or online video conferences.
The client will closely interview you in a Q and A format, but don’t worry because there is no need to prepare for anything in advance.
GLG Insights have already ensured that you’re the best network member for the job. Just answer the questions to the best of your ability.
After all, the clients need accurate data. These interviews usually last for one to two hours per session.
How to Earn Money With GLG Insights
The payment process will begin the moment you’ve completed the research gig. They will send you an email containing a pay request link.
The rate paid for each gig will vary, so the benefits you’ll get to enjoy will probably be different compared to other users.
That said, the average potential earnings of GLG Insights network members is $200.
GLG Insights also has an impressive customer service program. So feel free to reach out if you need someone to assist you in the future.
Other Market Research Firms to Check Out
Sticking to a single marketing research community is not enough to succeed in the gig economy. Instead, you should also consider joining other firms or companies to access other opportunities.
However, I understand that keeping track of all these memberships can be challenging. That’s why I invite you to join Stan’s Gigs instead.
Stan’s Gigs
I have worked hard over the past several years to grow my marketing network. Today, I can confidently say that I can share hundreds (if not thousands) of research jobs and related opportunities with you regularly.
Stan’s Gigs also doesn’t have any eligibility requirements. You can join my online community as long as you’re a person who enjoys sharing their opinions.
In fact, you don’t even have to go through a meticulous application process. Just sign-up for my newsletter, and you’re good to go.
Is It Worth Joining GLG Insights?
